    Card catalogs used to be all over libraries, and then
    index cards became obsolete.  

    Now the cards from card catalogs are used as scraps of 
    paper, for people to write on the backs.

    What will happen when libraries run out of old cards?

    People will write on modern, commercially-printed index
    cards.  It won't be the same, though.

    Or maybe people will start writing on the backs of business
    cards, which will be obsolete soon.  

    The one thing I hope doesn't become obsolete is writing 
    things by hand.
